MayaTech to Offer Training and Technical Assistance to SAMHSA Under IDIQ Contract Award

The MayaTech Corporation of Silver Spring, Md. today announced its award by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) to design, develop, and deliver training and technical assistance services to the agency under an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with an estimated value of $100 million over the next five years.

MayaTech will lead a team of eight subcontractors and one national mental health organization that will implement and assess program development and operations support to address treatment and prevention needs of individuals and families with substance abuse and mental health challenges. MayaTech was selected as an awardee in light of its position as the training and technical assistance provider responding to critical and time-sensitive requests by SAMSHA over the past eight years.

"This is a significant opportunity for MayaTech to continue providing training and technical assistance support to SAMHSA grantees, without disruption, and build on our 20-year record of quality performance," said Kimberly Jeffries Leonard, Ph.D., technical vice president and manager of MayaTech's Center for Training, Technical Assistance, and Research Support, and deputy project director. "We will provide SAMHSA best-in-industry solutions derived from our team's technical expertise and organizational capabilities."

The MayaTech Corporation is experienced in managing multiple, large-scale IDIQ training and technical assistance projects for SAMHSA's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, Division of Services Improvement; SAMHSA's Center for Substance Abuse Prevention's (CSAP) Minority AIDS Initiative; SAMHSA's Rapid HIV Testing Initiative; and CSAP's Methamphetamine and Ecstasy programs.

"Our training and technical assistance work has evolved over the years from an effort initially spearheaded by one corporate center to a total effort expanded and supported by every technical and operational center in the company," said Naomi Tomoyasu, Ph.D., senior technical vice president and director of MayaTech's Research and Evaluation Division." We are honored that SAMHSA values MayaTech's substantial experiences in training and technical assistance and our corporate commitment to helping advance the agency's critical public health mission."
