MayaTech Names Dr. Suzanne Randolph as Chief Science Officer
Suzanne M. Randolph, Ph.D., has been appointed chief science officer of The MayaTech Corporation, a research, technical assistance, information technology, and communications firm headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland. As chief science officer, Dr. Randolph will monitor scientific and industry developments and provide technical and strategic direction for research and development activities across the company.

Dr. Randolph joined MayaTech on a part-time basis in 1986 as a research scientist and has participated in the design and conduct of complex evaluation studies on diverse topics of national public health importance. Most recently, as the company’s scientific director, she served as project director and senior technical advisor on MayaTech’s health disparities research and systems-level evaluation projects for Federal agencies and private foundations.
Dr. Randolph’s appointment follows a stellar 20-year research and teaching career with The University of Maryland College Park, were she recently retired as tenured associate professor of family science in the School of Public Health.
Highlights of her accomplishments at MayaTech include serving as senior research scientist for the Evaluation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Minority AIDS Initiative; project director for the Evaluation of Pathways to Prevention: An Infant Mental Health Initiative for the Early Head Start National Resource Center at ZERO TO THREE; and project director for Evaluation and Technical Assistance for CDC’s Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program. She currently serves as project director for two MayaTech evaluation projects on health disparities—the Ward 8 (D.C.) Childhood Obesity Collaborative and the Kaiser Permanente Port Towns (Maryland) Community Health Initiative.
In addition, Dr. Randolph serves as project director of evaluation and technical assistance services contracts for Washington D.C. regional area foundations, where she provides strategic planning and conducts workshops on Logic Model Development and Evaluation for the Northern Virginia Health Foundation. For Consumer Health Foundation, she conducted focus group research on the feasibility of implementing a coordinated regional approach to health care for low-income, uninsured residents in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
A published author of numerous peer-reviewed articles on the role of family and community in children’s and family health, mental heath, and related issues, Dr. Randolph has served on several national advisory panels, including the National Academy of Sciences’ Panel on Evaluating Welfare Reform and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Advisory Committee on Evaluation of Head Start. Dr. Randolph’s background includes a B.S., in psychology from Howard University and an M.A. in psychology and a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is a past national president of the Association of Black Psychologists, former board chair of the Consumer Health Foundation, and current board chair of the HSC Foundation.
