Working To Answer Questions
From pilot testing of measurement tools to interpretive policy and statistical analyses of complex data sets, MayaTech is working to answer questions such as:
- Who is actually abusing which substances, to what extent, and why?
- What is being done to prevent and treat substance abuse?
- How successful are these prevention efforts overall and in selected subgroups?
- Is there a gap between needs and services?

Substance Abuse
Though substance abuse is never far from the national consciousness, the issue has assumed a particular urgency due to reported surges in the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Moreover, the connections between drug use, unplanned pregnancy, mental health problems, and the HIV/AIDS epidemic compound the problem, placing great burdens on individuals and the Nation.
MayaTech conducts substance abuse prevention and treatment-related policy analysis, research, and evaluation studies.
