HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS program and research support has been an integral part of MayaTech's experience in providing health-related professional and technical services.

MayaTech focuses on three major areas:

Health promotion and prevention of disease progression

Because of advances in technology and treatment, the life expectancy of HIV-infected persons has increased, provided that individuals have access to the health care they need. Factors affecting access to health care are multidimensional, especially for low-income and minority populations-the groups hardest hit by the epidemic.

MayaTech focuses on programs designed to ensure access to health care, dissemination of new research findings to clinicians and the general public, and the design and development of community-based health promotion programs.

Biomedical sciences research support

Advances in treatment have been a focus of HIV/AIDS researchers worldwide. HIV clinical trials test promising therapies and offer access to new therapies prior to FDA approval.

MayaTech is experienced in implementing multiple-site clinical trials. Corporate capabilities include data collection, study coordination, and outreach to underserved populations.

Health services research and evaluation

MayaTech seeks to increase understanding of health service factors that affect HIV/AIDS-affected populations. These factors include the organization, staffing, financing, operation, costs, utilization, and quality of care in health delivery systems.

MayaTech is skilled in study design; questionnaire development; sampling; in-person, telephone, and mail data collection; qualitative research (including focus group testing); and data analysis and reporting.
