Meeting Location and Sponsor

The Webcast for college and university screening and brief intervention (SBI) program grantees was conducted on Thursday, August 11 and Friday, August 12, 2005.

The meeting was sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT).

Meeting Highlights

The purpose of this meeting was to provide grantees with regulatory information and programmatic resources to facilitate the implementation of their SBI projects. 

Meeting topics included:

• Grants and payment management
• Quarterly reports
• Technical assistance
• The Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA)
• The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
• Participant protection
• Screening and referral processes
• Brief intervention and treatment 

Workshop Participants

All SBI grant project directors and lead evaluators were required to participate in the meeting.  Participation by additional grantee staff was decided upon in consultation with the grantee's Government Project Officer.
