Practice Recognition Awards
The following practice recognition awards were announced at the meeting.
Government Facilitation of Evidence-Based Practice Award
Recognizes a government official who has helped to move the field towards evidenced-based practice related to adolescent substance abuse treatment, including:
- Facilitating the development, adoption, and/or use of evidence-based practices in community-based settings
- Sustained commitment to work with community-based treatment providers to help them actually use the knowledge/skill/materials
- The extent of the focus on adolescent treatment
- The involvement of youth, family, the community and other stakeholders in the process. back to top
Evidence-Based Practice Award
Recognizes a clinical program or agency that has demonstrated a consistent commitment and movement towards evidenced-based practice in adolescent substance abuse treatment, including:
- The use of evidenced-based manuals, protocols, knowledge, and/or program or agency-generated data to improve implementation, management, and fidelity
- A sustained commitment to evidenced-based practices
- The extent of the focus on adolescent treatment
- The involvement of youth, family, the community, and other stakeholders in the process. back to top
Research to Evidence-Based Practice Award
Recognizes a researcher who has helped bridge the gap between research and evidenced-based practice related to adolescent substance abuse treatment, including:
- Producing findings and materials that can and have been used in practice
- Sustained commitment to work with community-based treatment providers to help them actually use the knowledge/skill/materials
- The extent of the focus on adolescent treatment
- The involvement of youth, family, the community, and other stakeholders in the process. back to top
Youth, Family, and Community Evidence-Based Practice Award
Recognizes a teen, family member, or community leader who has helped to make practice more accountable and effective through community efforts or leadership in working with programs, researchers, or policy makers, including:
- The type of leadership or contribution
- Sustained commitment to evidenced-based practices
- The extent of the focus on adolescent treatment
- The degree of collaboration with providers and policy makers in the process. back to top
Best Poster at the 2007 JMATE
Recognizes a JMATE poster that best reflects efforts to move the field towards evidence-based practice related to adolescent substance abuse treatment, including:
- The extent to which the poster/topic facilitates the development, adoption, and/or use of evidence-based practices in community-based settings
- The clarity and quality of the poster presentation
- The extent of the focus on adolescent treatment
- The extent of involvement of multiple stakeholders (e.g., youth, family, community, providers, policy makers, researchers).
