Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What process was used for reviewing session proposals?
The two oversight committees that planned the conference approved a set of guidelines for reviewing proposed sessions. A subcommittee of the program committee recruited reviewers and each proposal was reviewed and rated by two or more reviewers. After the reviews, the program committee used the reviewers' ratings and comments to make final decisions about which proposals to accept.
The sessions were reviewed based on the following criteria:
- Is it applied (this includes presentations designed to bridge the gap between science and practice)?
- Is it evidence-based (based on data derived from a study)?
- Does it provide perspectives on important aspects of clinical practice?
- Does it provide implementation or quality assurance tips and procedures (how-to presentations)?
The committee also tried to find a balance among presentations that addressed the use of different substances, in different settings, with different clinical populations.
Will meeting rooms have audio-visual equipment?
A computer, LCD projector, and overhead screen was provided free of charge in each room where presentations were scheduled with the exception of posters and work group meetings.
Will materials be provided for poster presentations?
Specialized poster-boards and pins were provided for poster presenters.
How will requests for time and space for special group meetings be handled?
On a limited basis, space was available so that existing groups (e.g., SASATE, interest groups) could meet in the evenings. These requests were handled based on the order they were received until the available time slots and spaces were filled.
