Presenter Roles & Responsibilities
Chairpersons and Moderators
The chairperson is responsible for notifying presenters by e-mail of date and time of their session. The notification e-mail should also indicate the length of the time allotted for each presentation, the names of co-presenters and moderator (if applicable), and the suggested order of presentation.
Prior to the start time of the session, the chairperson or moderator should check to make sure that all presentations are properly loaded and that the overhead projector is working correctly.
The chairperson or moderator is responsible for making sure that sessions begin and end on time. Please end any presentation that exceeds its allotted time.
The chairperson or moderator should ensure that sufficient time is allotted for audience participation and that guidelines regarding family, youth, and cultural sensitivity are followed.
The chairperson and moderator are encouraged to make adaptations for persons with disabilities.
Speakers
Speakers are asked to respect their time limits. They must start and end on time, due to the scheduling of other presentations and audience discussion.
Presenters should not include overly detailed, technical information on slides. Placing too much content on presentation slides makes them difficult to read and follow. Please see Poster Presentation Tips for more information
The speakers are encouraged follow guidelines regarding family, youth, and cultural sensitivity and to make adaptations for persons with disabilities.
